These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SoundScout, including our website, accounts, music discovery features, public profiles, artist upload tools, payments, subscriptions, and related services.

By using SoundScout, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use SoundScout.

1. Who we are

SoundScout is operated by SoundScout Ltd.

Email: support@soundscoutmusic.com

2. What SoundScout does

SoundScout is a music discovery platform.

Listeners can discover short music previews and react using simple signals such as Skip, Good and Hot.

Artists can upload short previews to understand how listeners respond before release.

SoundScout is not a full music streaming service, music distributor, record label, publisher, rights management service, royalty collection service or guaranteed promotion service.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use SoundScout.

If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian where required by law.

You must provide accurate account information and keep your login details secure.

4. Accounts

You are responsible for all activity under your account.

You must not:

  • Share your account with others
  • Use another person's account without permission
  • Create accounts using false or misleading information
  • Attempt to bypass security, limits, moderation or access controls

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or create risk for SoundScout, users, artists, or third parties.

5. Public profiles

SoundScout may allow users to create public profiles.

You are responsible for the information you add to your profile. Do not add private or sensitive information that you do not want others to see.

We may remove profile content or restrict profiles that breach these Terms, infringe rights, mislead others, or create risk for users or SoundScout.

6. Listener use

As a listener, you may use SoundScout to discover music previews and submit reactions such as Skip, Good, Hot, comments, tags or other feedback.

You understand that comments, tags and certain feedback may be visible to artists and, where the product indicates, other users.

You agree not to:

  • Manipulate reactions
  • Use bots, scripts or automated tools
  • Harass artists or other users
  • Submit abusive, hateful, misleading, unlawful or infringing content
  • Attempt to reverse engineer ranking, recommendation or moderation systems
  • Use SoundScout to spam, scrape or collect information from others

7. Artist uploads

As an artist or uploader, you may upload music previews, artwork, titles, descriptions and related content.

You must only upload content that you own or have all necessary rights, permissions and licences to use.

You are responsible for ensuring that your uploads do not infringe any third-party rights, including:

  • Copyright
  • Neighbouring rights
  • Performer rights
  • Publishing rights
  • Master recording rights
  • Trademark rights
  • Image rights
  • Privacy rights

You must not upload:

  • Music you do not own or control
  • Unlicensed samples
  • Unlicensed beats
  • Stolen artwork
  • Misleading artist information
  • Content that is unlawful, harmful, hateful, abusive, sexually explicit, exploitative or otherwise inappropriate for SoundScout

8. Rights you keep

You keep ownership of your music, artwork, text, comments, profile content and other content.

SoundScout does not claim ownership of your uploaded content.

9. Licence you give SoundScout

By uploading or submitting content to SoundScout, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, transcode, display, stream, reproduce, make available and use that content as necessary to operate, improve, secure, promote and provide SoundScout.

This licence includes the right to:

  • Make your preview available to listeners
  • Display associated artwork and metadata
  • Display public profile content
  • Show comments, tags and reactions where relevant
  • Process audio for playback, moderation and technical delivery
  • Show listener reactions and performance information
  • Use limited screenshots, previews, names or branding for promotional purposes, unless you opt out where available

This licence ends when your content is deleted from SoundScout, except where continued use is necessary for backups, legal compliance, dispute resolution, abuse prevention, analytics or records already created before deletion.

10. Listener reactions and feedback

Listener reactions, comments, tags and other feedback are subjective.

SoundScout does not guarantee that feedback will be accurate, representative, positive, commercially useful, or predictive of success.

Artists should not rely on SoundScout as the only source of release, marketing or business decisions.

11. No guarantee of exposure or results

SoundScout does not guarantee:

  • A specific number of listeners
  • Positive reactions
  • Promotion
  • Playlist placement
  • Commercial success
  • Discovery by labels, managers or industry professionals
  • That a track will become popular

SoundScout provides tools for early discovery and listener signal, not guaranteed outcomes.

12. Acceptable use

You must not use SoundScout to:

  • Break the law
  • Infringe intellectual property rights
  • Upload malware or harmful code

13. Moderation

We may review, remove, restrict or refuse content at our discretion, especially where we believe it may:

  • Breach these Terms
  • Infringe rights
  • Create legal risk
  • Harm users
  • Undermine the integrity of SoundScout
  • Be unsuitable for the service

We may also suspend or terminate accounts involved in misuse.

14. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on SoundScout infringes your rights, contact us at: support@soundscoutmusic.com

Please include enough information for us to identify the content and assess your claim.

More information is available in our Copyright Policy.

15. Payments and subscriptions

SoundScout offers or may offer paid features and subscriptions.

Payments are processed through Stripe. By purchasing a paid plan, you agree to the price, billing period, renewal terms, plan limits and payment terms shown at checkout.

Paid subscriptions may renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.

You are responsible for keeping your billing information accurate and up to date.

16. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel your subscription through your account settings, Stripe customer portal or by contacting: support@soundscoutmusic.com

Cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically refund past payments unless required by law or stated at checkout.

Because SoundScout provides digital services that may begin shortly after purchase, you may be asked at checkout to confirm that you want access to start immediately and that you understand this may affect cancellation rights where permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms affects any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

17. Price changes

We may change pricing or plan features from time to time.

If a price change affects an existing paid subscription, we will provide notice where required. Your continued use of the paid plan after the change takes effect means you accept the updated pricing, unless you cancel before the change applies.

18. Service changes

We may update, change, suspend or discontinue parts of SoundScout at any time.

We may release features in beta or experimental form. Beta features may change, break or be removed.

19. Availability

We aim to keep SoundScout available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or secure access.

The service may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, outages, third-party providers, security issues, or events beyond our control.

20. Third-party services

SoundScout may use or link to third-party services, including Stripe, Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics, hosting providers, authentication providers and email providers.

We are not responsible for third-party websites, platforms, services or content.

Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and policies.

21. Intellectual property

SoundScout's name, branding, design, software, interface, features and other materials belong to SoundScout Ltd or its licensors.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or exploit SoundScout's platform, branding or technology without permission.

22. Termination

You may stop using SoundScout at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

  • You breach these Terms
  • You create legal, security or operational risk
  • Your account is used for abuse or infringement
  • We are required to do so by law
  • We discontinue the service

23. Disclaimer

SoundScout is provided “as is” and “as available”.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted availability.

24. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SoundScout Ltd will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

25. Indemnity

If you upload content, misuse the service or breach these Terms, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, damages, liabilities and costs arising from your actions, to the extent permitted by law.

26. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.

27. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are significant, we may notify users by email or through the service.

Your continued use of SoundScout after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
